It seems like everyone's worries about the collection of cells rather than the pregnant mother, who in many circumstances is endangering their lives by having the baby. It seems very extreme to just say that the unborn foetus matters! ...

Of course it should be legal. a fetus shares the rights of the mother who decides ultimately if it should be born or not. you can argue, if you believe in God, that he decides, or you can look at the practical reality of a person's life and see if a child is a realistic option for the mother.
