Re: Should Abortion Be Legal?

The question should not be, does a fetus have rights, but do the rights of the fetus overrule the rights of the pregnant woman. My thoughts on this were, and still are, influenced by the death of a high school classmate who died from a backalley abortion. I believe that the decision should be made by the woman with the input of her medical professional, her family, and her spiritual advisor.

Since women are going to get abortions whether they are legal or not, I think that it is incumbent upon the society to make that medical procedure as safe as possible. The people that target doctors and picket outside clinics, have driven away many of the best physicians because those physicians don't need the grief. Those that are left are only those that are either truly devoted to the cause, or those that can't find other medical work. So the protesters are actually making a very safe procedure more dangerous. I think these protesters do this because they think the women that get abortions deserve to be punished and not because they care about these women.

Hello Jaybones

"a very safe procedure" It is not safe for the baby, have you seen an abortion? http://www.cbrinfo.org/

There are many Abortion Mills that are not safe and it's a lie

Here is an example Amarillo, TX - Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today commented upon the forced closing of the Center for Women’s Health in Cleveland. The clinic, which performed late-term abortions, failed to have its state license renewed when officials found numerous health and safety violations at the facility. “The shoddy conditions and practices in those facilities have been the dirty little secret of the abortion industry for years,” Fr. Pavone commented. “But it’s being revealed more and more. The more closely health regulators look at these clinics, the more dangers they will find.”

There was one in New Jersey that was unsteril in so many ways, and it was though a money making machine, but after years of practice got shut down.

Re: Re: Should Abortion Be Legal?

You are making an unequal comparison, which is why I will disagree with you.

The lifestyle of one person does not override the life of another. And the best medical evidence today is unequivocal: life begins at conception.

Furthermore, the argument that 'abortions will happen anyway' is pretty silly, given that the same logic could be given to make bank robbery, rape and driving on the wrong side of the road legal.

In regards to your friend that died, are you not aware that women die from so-called 'safe' abortion today? And not only that, many are scarred for life, either emotionally or physically - with evidence beginning to mount of the connection between abortion and ectopic pregnancies, as well as breast cancer.

Furthermore, former abortionists will themselves disagree with you about the procedure and the level of 'devotion' towards women themselves. They are actually devoted to one thing: money. Next patient please. Oh you have complications? Too bad. Next patient please.

If I were you I would look at the subject again.

The link between breast cancer and abortion has been disproven. It's a scare story.
